The Rockwood Municipal Court handles city ordinance violations, traffic citations, and other municipal offenses. The court is responsible for ensuring cases are handled fairly while maintaining public safety and accountability.

Any person opening a business within the City of Rockwood must apply for a City Business License through City Hall. The cost for a new license is $15.00. Completed applications may be mailed or delivered in person to City Hall at 110 N. Chamberlain Avenue, Rockwood, TN 37854.
Businesses located within the city limits are also required to obtain a Roane County Business License, which can be secured through the Roane County Clerk’s Office. Additional information regarding state business licensing requirements is available through the State of Tennessee.
City property taxes for 2025 became due on October 1, 2025, and were considered delinquent after March 1, 2026. Delinquent taxes accrued interest at a rate of 1.5% per month until paid.
City property taxes for 2026 will become due on October 1, 2026, and will be considered delinquent if not paid by March 1, 2027. As before, any delinquent taxes will accrue interest at a rate of 1.5% per month. Residents are encouraged to pay on time to avoid additional charges.
Payments can be made at City Hall, by phone, or online using a debit or credit card (convenience fees apply). Tax relief programs are available for eligible elderly and disabled homeowners, as well as disabled veterans or their widows. Applications and additional information are available at City Hall.
The Building Inspection Office is located at City Hall, 110 North Chamberlain Avenue. The office handles plan review, permit processing, and inspections for construction and development projects within the City of Rockwood.
Permits must be applied for in person during regular business hours. Applicants are required to provide a plan showing the proposed project along with an estimated cost of the project.
The Building Inspector is responsible for inspections related to signage, excavation, building, plumbing, and mechanical installations. Inspection requests may be made in person at the Building Inspection Office or by phone during regular business hours. A 24-hour advance notice is preferred for all inspections.
